News from the Volunteer-House

In April and May we had several construction sites for 3 whole weeks in our house. It started with a new kitchen. The old one out of wood had to go and a new one out of bricks came in. The next problem, was not directly in the house, but the water pump broke down on us and we needed to fetch our water for cooking, showering and so on for 4 days out of a well nearby. As soon as we had water again, a bypass caused a power blackout in the house. Now, 3 weeks without a proper kitchen, 3 weeks eating in the living room, 4 days without running water and one week without power, everything is back to normal again. We praise the Lord, that he blessed us with strength, energy and perseverance. We are very happy with our new kitchen. Our old kitchen was made out of wood and also small. The new kitchen is much bigger and we can sanitize it better. For the new water pump, which not just delivers running water to us, but to the neighboring college as well, we are also very grateful. Due to the bypass, 3 volunteers modernized the entire power supply system of the house. Now we have a European system. It was on a Friday evening, when suddenly the lights went out. We all were looking forward to a long weekend. At the next day, one socket was working again. But we still needed to empty out our fridge und freezer though. “At least we are able to charge our phones and we have water.”, were our shots to encourage ourselves. Now, after one week of hard work, everything works flawlessly. But, honestly, even though everything was uncomfortable, it could have come a lot worse. We experienced God’s protection and blessing. He sustained, carried us through this difficult time and we want to praise him for that!
