Bridges on our farm

Brücken auf der Farm-01.jpeg
Our farm has a lot of water retaining trenches that are used to enrich our groundwater in the rainy season. These water retention swales are helping to irrigate our farm with water from below all year round. The wonderful thing about the swales is that they enrich our farm with the most important asset, namely water. The challenge of the trenches is that they divide the farm into many areas and we urgently had to build bridges in order to get access to the individual areas. With the help of many wonderful people, we have now been able to build six bridges. These bridges reflect God's love for creation. Every single bridge is handmade and made with a lot of sweat and love. The bridges give structure to the farm and also give a very lovely impression.
We are getting more and more birds on the farm. This can be seen from the fact that we have to clean the bridge railings regularly, otherwise they would get a Dalmatian look (bird droppings stains on a black background 😉).
If you want to live sustainably, you will have to deliberately dig trenches here and there to collect “water”. Bridges are needed where there are trenches. Those who are not ready to team up with other people to design, build and maintain bridges cannot have a sustainable lifestyle in the long run. That sounds very philosophical and it is. May God give us the wisdom we need to create the right "transitions" in our lives so that sustainable habits can grow in our lives. May God give us the willingness to exchange our “comforts” for sustainable solutions that are better for all of us. We need structure to make sustainability possible and, above all, bridges, so that what we do makes sense and is connected to others. Pray with us for people who are ready to fund three more very important bridges on our farm.
