Birds on the farm

We are very proud to say that our farm is home to the most birds in the whole area. In 2017,we started to restore healthy nature in the driest area of Tanzania and planted tens of thousands of trees. This has created a habitat for many animals, including numerous birds. Since then, the population of the inhabitants of the skies has been steadily increasing. Some time ago, Martin started to regularly walk around the farm and document which birds live here. He now frequently records over 40 different species. The total number he was able to identify so far is over a hundred different species on our 60 acres. All of Europe has a little over 400 species… ;-)
During the time Martin and Alice were on home stay (November 2023 to January 2024), I(Dominik) was asked to take on this task and take time once a week to observe our flying friends and ensure that there is no lack in data during Martin´s absence.
Every time I do this, I see birds in all kinds of colours. From violet and iridescent blue to green, yellow and red, every colour is represented in the plumage of the different species. And the songs and calls of the birds can be heard all over the farm. No matter where I go, the beeping and chirping accompanies me.
We are very grateful that we have been able to bring so much life back to our farm, where previously the wildlife was slowly dying out, and we hope that this development will continue.
