The moringa tree is a real miracle tree. Pretty much all parts of this tree can be eaten: The leaves, the flowers, the immature pods, the seeds, and even the roots. All parts are extremely nutritious and contain many vitamins and minerals. From the seeds, an oil can be extracted that is highly sought after on the world market, and is therefore five times more expensive than sunflower oil. It is suitable for cooking as well as for body care (where it is very good for the skin because of its high nutrient content), and it can also be used as lubricating oil for bicycles or sewing machines. The pressed seeds are suitable as animal feed or can also be used to purify dirty water.
The tree is very drought-resistant and fast-growing. Trees grown from seeds can grow up to five metres high within a year and also start to flower.
Many poor families live in the countryside, whose children often cannot complete their school education well due to malnutrition alone. The moringa tree could help to remedy this problem.
