Carpentry
All the furniture(or nearly all) on our farm are made by local Tanzanian carpenters and every single piece is designed with a lot of love and diligent work. Some pieces were made in teamwork with special people from Austria, who came to join in the wonderful effort to build up this demonstration farm. Looking at any furniture you will feel the growth of the tree, from which the wood came. Little structures, dark spots, some branch holes….nothing straight all with the fragrance of original roughness. We enjoy the beauty of these pieces and the creativity that reminds us that we are all very dearly loved and unique. We do care for every tree that gave his wood to help us to get one important piece of furniture. Writing this I see four black iron office chairs standing around me. What about these? Made in some factory far away, transported around the globe to help to reduce back pain for office people. I must confess, as someone working in the office,- I do enjoy those benefits too. My favourite piece of carpentry is my office door. It shows me all the growing lines the tree got, but also the work of a carpenter, who made it for the farm. Lots of love put together to make something useful. Oh may we all have less but really good things that remind us of how precious this creation is.
