For many people, the Earth is simply a place where they plant their crops to obtain what they desire. However, Earth is much more than that. Earth is almost like a living organism or a vast city where a multitude of living beings coexist, collaborate, communicate, and compete, creating a habitat for all. When we intentionally or unknowingly interfere in this interdependence (e.g., through plowing, fertilizing, pesticides, etc.), we disturb this habitat, destroy hundreds of thousands of living beings, and ultimately harm the fertility of the soil that is supposed to provide us with food.
On our farm, we strive instead to care for the soil, promote biodiversity, and maintain the balance of this diverse community of living beings. Our main methods for achieving this are mulching, composting, and planting a variety of different plants that are all part of this "organism" called the soil. This is how God intended it from the beginning, and by doing so, we ensure the soil's fertility for ourselves and for many other living beings that God has created.
